[b]JVD HR-S9800U won't work - only flashes Auto or ----[/b]

I have had my JVD HR-S9800U for several years, and it has worked great. Now it doesn't work. It flashes AUTO, unless I press power. Then it shows the video timer (0:00:00) for about 2 seconds, and will also show which channel or line in if I try to change it quickly, but within 2 seconds goes back to the flashing Auto.

I've tried everything I could think of - checked the instruction book, turned it off, unplugged it, pushed buttons on the VCR and remote. Does anyone have a clue how to get it to work again

You've already tried all of the common user troubleshooting steps. Time for a repair shop (if it's under warranty) or replacement.
