I was given this Sony S-Master 5 disk changer a few weeks ago because something was jammed in it. I never bothered connecting it to a TV while I worked as the whole problem was ejecting the disk trays... Well now it works so I decided to use it. However, every output on the device has static in it! It looks about like there's a short in the cable, but I have tested different cables with the same results. Component and both RCA outputs have static. However, the RCA audio output is fine, its just video. At times when the motors are working, the static seems to clear up, but only for a second.

I really didn't disassemble it too much... I don't know if I knocked a ground loose or something, but as far as I can tell, everthing's straight inside.

Aside from the obvious of looking for something damaged inside, there isn't much you can do. A repair shop would be your best bet, but only if it is under warranty (which it doesn't seem to be in your case).

Thanks... Eh, I'll probably just end up giving it away or something. I had high hopes in using it as a backup stereo in another room, but honestly it sounds pretty pathetic. Aside from my video problems, the sound is pretty muffled and I see no tone adjustments.
