I have tried using several programs but none seem to work. Each program that I use give me 1 of 2 problems. The first problem is that most programs do not recognize the file that I am trying to convert. I will be trying to convert a DIVx file and when the program asks me to find it, it isn't there. I usually save to my desktop, but I have saved to other places on the off chance that this would help, but it doesn't. WinAVI is en example of a program that does this. It will also make some folder titles look blue, but I don't know if this means anything.

The second problem is that if I find a program that does recognize that I have a DIVx file that I want to convert, it does something to the file while burning to the dvd that will cause the video to jump around and skip or even completely skip over multiple minutes of video.

I have searched around in this forum but I haven't really found anything that might help.

One program, convertxtodvd, recognizes the file I want to convert but when I choose the file, the program freezes and I have to end it. Nero recognizes every single DIVx file I have....except one, which just happens to be the one I wish to use at the moment. I do not believe that the file is corrupted, since I am able to watch the entire video on my computer without any problems. I just wish to be able to use my big screen.

What is the extension of your files? If it's .divx, change it to .avi. Also, if the files are in PAL format and you are converting to NTSC, you may have problems. Lastly, MP3 VBR audio can cause problems with some videos.

Finally and most important, what's the source of your files? You can drop them into Gspot 2.70 and it should give you some info about the format. Post a screen shot of your Gspot info for help. Info here: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic271697.html

I'll assume you are trying to convert the files to a DVD compliant format? If ConvertX freezes, you probably have a corrupted file or some other format that it doesn't recognize.

You don't 'burn' a Divx or AVI file to a DVD, unless you have a Divx player, and even then it has to adhere to the Divx format. For most players, first you have to encode it to DVD compliant MPEG format, then author it to the DVD format. Burning is the easy part, and the end product, done when you have a DVD compliant VIDEO_TS folder.

There can be a lot more too it. You might want to do some reading.

    And welcome to our forums.

  4. Your file is truncated (the end is missing). Try using DivFix to fix it.

You are in fact missing about a third of the movie. Depending on how you downloaded it, this could be just the end third, or it could be spread out through out the length of it. Given the issues you have had, I suspect the latter. In short, the file is toast. Nothing will convert this properly. Delete it. Start again.

It also says "error checking not perfect"

Look at the g-spot image you posted. At the top it says Size : 741 MB. That is how big the file should be. Your download program pre-allocated that amount of space, so the file will look that big on your HDD.

Now look at the section below it, highlighted in pink. It says truncated, and that it is only 448MB. You are missing 300 MB. The file is worthless.
