I have used DVD Decrypter for quite some time now and I really do not wish to stop cause I have tried the DVD 2 PSP or iPod like programs and they always mess something up!
Anyway whenever I decrypt a DVD and try to go to the folder that contains the .VOB file it crashes explorer! If I rename it from VTS%(#% or whatever it is to it's proper name or something other than a bunch of numbers than it stops happening but now I cannot do that cause explorer crashes too soon.
Can anybody help me on this to try and solve the problem?
    I'm running:
    GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
    2x GB DDRII Ram
Sound ON BOARD of a Dual Core AMD 4800+ 64 BIT Processor running on Vista Buisness 32 BIT Edition with Admin access.

  2. Temporarily go to Computer then choose Tools/Folder Options. In the View tab, uncheck "Always show icons, never thumbnails". Now open the offending folder and see if it still crashes.

If it doesn't, it most likely means that the codec responsible for those types of files has a problem that ultimately causes the crash. This is because when you view the folder in Explorer, Windows looks at each type of file and then tries to create a thumbnail. For video files, this involves opening the right codec and feeding the file to it. If the codec crashes, it brings Explorer down. So, technically, it's not as case of "Vista Crashes Explorer" but "<some codec> Crashes Explorer".

Next time it crashes, look at the details of the crash - it should give you the name of what module is crashing. If it isn't Explorer.exe, then it really suggests a codec issue.

Note, the thumbnail prevention applies to all folders, not just video ones. Supposedly, you can apply it to just video folders but I couldn't get it to work...
