Hey there,
I just bought Madden 08 for the PC tonight. I have not gotten it to play at all!!! I have the min specs for the game. The only stumbling block I can think of is it says 1gig ram min for VISTA and that is all the ram I have. My video card is a nvidia 8400 256mb pci-e card. I just updated it to beta forceware 163.71 - just released today. No luck.
I've been trying to search the net for help but no luck so far.
The maddening (pun unintentional!) thing about it is I have NHL 08 from easports and it works perfectly!! What gives?????????????
Mine doesn't go to the game menu at all. It starts and does the "ea sports" logo and I can hear the ea sports dude talking so its not my sound drivers at all (sound blaster audigy se). I now have the absolute latest nvidia drivers. I have also disabled norton antivirus. NOTHING! What gives????
EDIT - I actually found the solution on an old post online for a previous madden game. I changed the music directory to a different name and it loaded perfectly! Apparently its some kind of mp3 codec issue. I may try to download an update to my audigy later this weekend and that might let me use ingame music. However I'm not in that much of a hurry.
It looks great! All my settings are on high by default and it runs smoothly!!! It is fun. I'll have to start a season. !!!!!!

PLAYING Games on Vista!??? You are joking?

The other thing that struck me funny was that you could only get it with vista, yet vista has problems with games. (NOTE I have yet to experiance this myself running FEAR or Battlefield) But its evident when you get to the software and games and it wont let you add any to the purchase. If your buying this to game on I say look elsewhere, you will be happier. -
1GB of RAM with Vista !? Seriously YOU are joking..............aren't you ?

Cons
I ordered my dual-core with only 1 GB of RAM with Vista Home. This was a mistake, as I'm now aware Vista is a hog for memory, even with no applications installed. My ratings would be much higher if I had been advised of this ahead of time. Additionally, I had a memory module fail on me.
Additional Thoughts
Perhaps, with more pre-education on my part .... Unfortunately, I'm so busy at my job (building Windows Networking Servers), I have little time to investigate consumer items. So ... maybe the cons are all my fault.
You'll find the basic computer knowledge forum for those with even less common computer sense than your average DELL customer is thataway -> -
@rotten apple - whats your problem????? You dig up a two week old post that NOBODY had responded to simply to make fun of me??? I'd say that's pretty pathetic.
And yes VISTA does play games - I am currently running HALO 2, Bioshock, NHL 08 and MADDEN 08 (sans music as this thread had indicated) with no problems.
And yes 1gb of ram has been sufficient for me.
Go pester someone else on some other forum- it is not appreciated nor is it helping anyone or productive in anyway shape or form.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
well, lets look at just the facts----it is a dell, can only be minimally customized, AND HAS ONLY ONE GIG OF RAM!!!!!! CAN'T DO MUCH WITH THAT ON VISTA!!!!!
