i have installed and registered but when i click on to open program the box appears - windows says caused by This problem was caused by lmpgspl.ax. lmpgspl.ax was created by Ligos Corporation.

lmpgspl.ax is a codec. A codec is software that is used to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or video. Media players and other programs use codecs to play and create digital media files.

    Troubleshooting

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To try to solve this problem, follow these steps. Each of the steps might solve your problem. If following a step doesn't fix your problem, then go on to the next step.

Disable thumbnail view in Windows Explorer

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
Click the View tab, and then select the Always show icons, never thumbnails check box.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Uninstall the program that caused the problem

If this problem occurred after you installed a new program, the problem might be caused by that program. If you know which program you just installed, you can uninstall it.

How do I uninstall a program in Windows Vista?

Click to open Programs and Features.
Select a program, and then click Uninstall. Some programs include the option to change or repair the program in addition to uninstalling it, but many only offer the option to uninstall. To change a program, click Change or Repair. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Unregister the codec from your computer

If you don't know which program is causing this problem, you can remove lmpgspl.ax from the list of installed codecs by unregistering it.

Note: Disabling lmpgspl.ax will cause any programs that depend on the codec to stop working or lose functionality.

Click the Start button, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
From the command prompt, type regsvr32 /u lmpgspl.ax, and then press ENTER. The codec is now unregistered.
If these troubleshooting steps do not solve the problem and you continue to receive problem reports, please consider filling out the survey on the right of this solution page. To help us continue to investigate this error, include the names of the add-ons that are currently enabled in Internet Explorer in the comments area of the survey.

  11. OK, I was thinking it may be a codec error (ligos is a codec). If the splash screen plays, then it's probably not that. Are you running the program as administrator?

It seems you may have some other things going on, we'll have to let ChrissyBoy weigh in on this.

As per your post - have you tried "regsvr32 /u lmpgspl.ax"?

sorry ChrissyBoy but I'm a novice at this so I have no idea what to do about your last - can you please guide me step by step if possible thanks

  15. OK, on XP (should be similar on Vista) click "Start", then "Run", it should open a text box. Then copy and paste or type the following into the text box (without the quotes):

    "regsvr32 /u lmpgspl.ax"

This will unregister the codec that appears to be causing your problem.

The easiest thing to use for putting multiple avi's onto a dvd is

SVCD2DVD which has it's own forum on this site if you look, a
great piece of kit and as I say easy to use.
aliali loves the product but has to do some trolling when on the rag :P even tried to spread a spyware rumor once and was caught doing that.

Your problem is apparently with an improperly registered codec in Vista, SVCD2DVD only shows a symptom, it isn't the source of the error.
