YouTube (.flv) to QuickTime (.mov) on Mac OS X 10.4 doesn't work

I have installed the program and binaries successfully and have downloaded .flv files from YouTube. The builit-in player (Preview) will play the .flv file. When I try to convert .flv to .mov (or some other formats, I get a quick conversion, but the resulting file cannot be played. The software rings a chime as though it all worked, but then you discover an error message, such as:

I tried taking the resultant file and asking FFmpeg to Preview it, and it says the .mov is "Unrecognized."

umm, not to beat a dead horse....but if you install Perian,
couldn't you convert natively within Quicktime Pro?
Or does the audio error still occur for you?
The few i have done didn't produce any errors.

They won't play cause they are files of 0k size. I can only use the X264 H.264 conversion successfully 100% of the time for FLV conversions

I'm with Terry. QuickTime (Pro, Apple MPEG Component,
the new Perian 1.0) reads FLVs nicely and exports to a
lot of different formats.
