    When I uploaded this vid

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=_OYvvfMaW5Q&fmt=18

It was a 95 meg xvid. Now, the &fmt=18 option yields stereo, but the vid itself is blocky. Previous vids looked good with the &fmt=18 tag.

Well if you look at the standard version of the same clip, the High quality version looks alot better....

Not to be critical, but judging by the 'high quality' vid, your source doesn't appear to be all that great.

  4. What did YouTube change? &fmt=18 doesn't seem to work now
It works, as does &fmt=6. There are 3 different versions of that video available.

Not sure how you can tell since you haven't seen the source video. It's not HD by any means but it's far better than the YouTube vid. There's much more degradation of the image than others I've uploaded.

Screenshots from the xvid file that was uploaded and from the &fmt=18 YouTube version, the original source was OTA analog recorded directly onto a hard drive.

Compare to this &fmt=18 version of a video I uploaded about a month ago. The original source on this one was 8mm video.

    Here's the vid it's from
