Hi guys,
I have this system for a year and capturing analogue TV programme almost everyday. The problem start to get worse a couple of months ago, that I notice frame dropped in the captured video. The video start out okay but the stutter will appear and get worse in later part of the video. The problem get worse after I cut out the commericals with VideoRedo which the dropped frame causes stutter and audio out of sync in later half of the video.
To troubleshoot the problem I removed most the non-essential program running background and defragged the harddisk.
I am using an Intel system which was at the low end a year ago, with 500MB RAM, Winfast TV2000XP card, on board video and audio. 200GB harddisk with lots of space left (100GB space most of the time). The recorded programs were okay, so I guess my hardware capability is not the problem.
I am also using Winfast PVR program, recording one hour TV programme in mpeg2 format at 4000 kbps, 500 compression. audio sampling at 192kps.
Any help will be much appreicated.
Alex

I would defrag your Hard drive atleast once a month, maybe even once a week. That could be the cause of the stuttering issue.....Good Luck

Hi Bodyslide,
I do defrag my harddisk every month. In fast, the problem is still there right after defragging the harddisk. -
You might need to split the feed :
Video to winfast
Audio to linein on pc sound card
If theres any audio pass through cable ... throw it in the bin and leave it there .
You may need to get some cables in order to do this .
----
Take a look at your motherboard .
Counting down from video port (agp / pcie) ... tell me what each pci slot has installed in it .
Nothing should be in pci1 .
Winfast tend to be fussy beasts ... work fine for a while in most slots ... then start playing about .
Motherboard manufacturer and model would be handy so I can look it up for specs . -
Thank you all for the advice.
Hi Bjs, My WinFast TV card has a audio cable connected to my onboard audio input.
After studying the problem, I noticed some more things. The first 5 minutes of recording is smooth, the stutter starts after that time and get worse as the recording goes on. I checked on the RAM usage and found that I only have about 240MB left when recording. I then checked the recorded file size when it starts to get stutter and it is about 240MB. Could there be a connection?
Any suggestion is welcome.
