I am using BEYOND TV to record HDTV programs as .tp files
I convert these .tp files to mpg with HDTVtoMPEG2

This .mpg is still of HD quality.

I would like to retain this HDTV quality video, but convert the .mpg to .vob...in other words, I want to burn my BEYOND TV HDTV programs to standard dual layer DVDs for playback on any ol' home DVD player.
I understand the size of files/length of program issues.

Is there a software program that can do this? SVCD2DVD just isn't getting it done.
I am using VISTA on a dual Centrino laptop at 1.87 ghz per processor.

    Please help.Kevin

    DVD is maximum 720x480. See
    https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

Your HD file would need to be downsized from 1920x1080i or 1280x720p to wide 720x480i/29.97 or wide 720x480p/23.976 and bit rate needs to fit spec as well. A good program to do this for you is ULead Movie Factory 6 or you could go step by step with other programs.

So...is the bit rate and video size limitations I've been running into (including ULEAD MF6, which won't ever accept the higher rates/sizes in the preferences dialog box) a by-product of the software or the nature of VOB?
If I'm understanding you, the problem lies in the /vob technology?...it can't BE that big?

DVD is standard definition and has strict definitions as to how files are prepared.

    For high definition formats see
