Hey, I just now noticed this feature in CCE in the toolbar. It is on Standard by default, but should I change it? I am backing up NTSC DVDs, so should I change it to NTSC. Or should I just always leave it on Standard? What difference does it make? Thanks!

In my CCE version 'Standard' is the same as 'NTSC DVD'. Looks like they called it that way for reference in case other template is edited and saved.
For an NTSC encoding it is better to customize a default NTSC template: if you select PAL, you'll have to change not just framerate, but such things as GOP structure etc.

  3. I agree. I don't use any of them. I make my own, and set up one of them as the Standard (or default), for the kinds of encodes I do most often (NTSC/Progressive).

    What difference does it make?

A big difference. If I remember correctly, that Standard one is for interlaced 29.97fps NTSC encoding, and 1-pass CBR. If you have a progressive 23.976fps source for which you'd rather use multi-pass VBR encoding, you're screwed.

Well, I am using DVD Rebuilder with CCE to backup my NTSC DVDs. Do I even need to go in to CCE and change anything or will just leaving it as standard be fine?

  5. You might have said that in the first post. DVD-RB sets whatever has to be set. If you don't know enough to change any of the CCE settings inside of DVD-RB, then the defaults will be fine.

Rebuilder sets all the settings itself.
Take a look at the rebuilder "work" folder and open an item*.ecl file in CCE and you will see the settings Rebuilder uses compared to any standard templates.
