DVD creation/edting with VISTA

Can someone PLEASE point me to free , simple DVD editing software that WORKS with VISTA 32 bit.
All I want is a simple menu and software that supports AC-3 sound format.
Or can someone PLEASE help me fix the ROXIO EASY CREATOR that came loaded in my new PC that does not support AC-3 sound????

Most video programs work fine with Vista. Here's a Vista compatibility list: http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_Vista_Software_Compatibility_List

But try GUI for dvdauthor and the Cuttermaran editor if you want freeware.

I usually use TMPGEnc DVD Author and MPEG Video Wizard, but neither are free.

DVD Rebuilder has issues with some installs of Vista - went back to XP Pro on mine

If you have Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, have you tried Windows DVD Maker? It comes with the OS and you can create menus.

I'm not sitting at my Vista machine, so I can't tell if it supports AC3 or not.

Yes, I , I did try WINDOWS DVD MAKER.
I could not figure out how to label the chapters.
It also seemed to create chapters where I didn't want them.
The test disc I burned only worked in a WMV compatable DVD player.


I did download GUI but the chapter editor has no sound and no real way of editing clips.

I BOUGHT NERO 7 but it required a HUGE downloaded update that was impossible to do with dial up.

I can't get a straight answer from NERO or ROXIO if they have a current version that I can SIMPLY BUY , INSTALL AND USE without updates or other crap to deal with.

It ain't gonna happen with Nero, actually almost any app needs a few updates after it's initial retail box release.

It should, you probably have a crippled version that needs to be updated ($) to the full version,
