  1. I have captured hd-cam stuff and encoded it to divx however i have since purchased a hd-dvd player for the xbox 360. i was curious as to if there was a guide that talked about divx conversion to hd-dvd standards.

    thanks

Decompress it and use an encoder/authoring program that supports HD-DVD authoring.

ULead Movie Factory 6 is at the low end.

When you encoded it to divx, did you resize it down and squeeze the living crap out of it ?

If so, don't bother trying to get it back to HD. Hardware upscaling will do a better job.

If you really want to play you might look at : http://www.thedeemon.com/VideoEnhancer/ which claims to produce high quality upscaling. Personally, I think the demo videos aren't very impressive, the performance is incredibly slow (I mean glacially), and the results, at least on moderate upsizing, isn't much better than what you can do with a good avisynth script.
