I d/l'ed a DVDR9 iso file and went to burn with ImgBurn which promptly popped up a message that the iso was not properly configured for an R9 burn. I was going to 'burn' to my HD to fix it, but ImgBurn won't burn to the HD.

Now what? Is there a freeware program that will burn an iso to my HD?

You don't need to burn it to the HD, just open it with Daemon Tools and mount it as a DVD disc. Or extract it with a program like ISOBuster and fix it. Or VLC can play back most ISO videos. Also, DVD Shrink should be able to open ISO DVD files and you may be able to redo it there.

Download dvd shrink which you can find for free on the web still. Under file on dvd shring choose open image. Re analyse the image and backup again to the hard drive in iso form or to a dvd 9. Be sure to select dvd 9 in preferences

Perhaps you should not have downloaded the ISO but acquired the DVD by buying it. Any commercial DVD is properly mastered in relation to the layer break.

Good point blutach, every week I read similar posts where people ask how to burn them or open them....God only knows what's in the ISO....it could be packed with malware.

Why does everyone always assume that everything downloaded is commercially available? Most bittorrent sites don't allow commercially released material. Maybe he downloaded something like a concert that someone taped off of TV from the cable service that they "paid" for that was never commercially available. Technically, is it legal? No.

I'm sure everyone here has done something that is technically "illegal", perhaps copy a commercially released movie and gave one to a friend or family member. Before we become the moral authority and assume someone has downloaded commercially available material, perhaps we should look in the mirror before throwing out accusations.

Yes it is illegal. No different than one person "paying" for a DVD, copying it, then making it available for another person download as an .ISO image.
