Hi, I downloaded an avi video file that claimed to contain AAC audio (and WMV9 video). I wanted to convert it to a format playable on my PMP, so I tried to extract the AAC to re-encode to Ogg or MP3, but VirtualDubMod doesn't seem to be doing the trick. When I select the extract WAV option, the WAV file just seems broken. When I just let it demux, the aac file doesn't play back correctly. I tried converting the aac to other formats using dbpoweramp, but the resulting mp3 or ogg file is about 1/3 as long as it should be and plays back all muffled and at half speed.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips or guidelines, like another option or what I might be doing wrong. Thank you!

    Download ffmpeg - http://www.paehl.com/open_source/?download=ffmpeg.zip

Download his small script (right-click to save).

    avi2aac.cmd

Place your AVI, ffmpeg.exe, and avi2aac.cmd into the same folder.

Double click on avi2aac.cmd to run

    Good luck

    Thank you, it worked perfectly!

Any clue as to why VirtualDubMod couldn't do it? Is it a well-known problem?

Can't say for sure, probably because it is looking for a specific decoder installed on your system that it couldn't find...

Vdubmod requires an ACM audio decoder.
Atempts to create AAC ACM, I believe failed and were deserted.
AVI is not meant to contain AAC audio.
