    Hello,

Iīm from germany so sorry for my bad english.

Some weeks ago I begun using the TV-Out on my Ati x1900 XT Card and since this day the problems begun.

    Here the timeline:

phase 1: sometimes after using "clone main on TV" the picture on DVI Out gone away - PC screen got no signal.

The only way to get picture back was unplugging the TV-Screen, disable TV in Catalyst software, shutting down the computer, shuttin off electricity and then rebooting. If one of the things wasnīt made the picture doesnīt come back! When TV-Out is enabled the TV Screen got picture the whole time - so the card should work fine generally.

Tryed to plug cables new, reinstall Catalyst without effect.

phase 2: Same problem like phase one but the "unplugging/disable/electrycity" thing doesnīt work! Tried to get the Screen Working 40 Times with rebooting - 2 times it worked but 30 Minutes after the Screen Signal getīs lost again.

At this moment I thougt about a heating Problem - so I let the PC cool down to check if it shows picture on screen correct when card is cold. No effect. The Picture only comes "sometimes". Most time not.

The Card is bought when the x1900 was brand new and Iīve never had those problems before.
    What can this be?!

There are a few things to note, most you have most likely tried already.

If you are cloning your desktop, the resolution and refresh rate should be set to according to what your TV can handle.

If you are creating a 2nd/extended desktop, the resolution and refresh rate of the 2nd/extended desktop needs to be set according to what you TV can handle.

The TV should be connected and powered on before the pc is booted (not always the case with newer hardware, but still handy when troubleshooting).

The fact that it works for awhile and then stops (without moving any cables, changing settings, or powering off the TV OR PC), would seem to indicate a hardware issue. Most likely with the video card, but could also be the TV.
