    Hi guys. I Tried searching but my search didn't return any results on this topic.

    I have a couple of videos in avi format taken from my mobile phone before. The problem is that the speed of the videos are relatively fast when played on my phone or on the PC (with x1 at normal, I say the video is playedback at x2).

    Now my question is how or what application should I use to re-encode (or even convert) the video so that I can set the playback permanenly at the normal x1 speed? This way the videos will play normally at default speed and not at x2 speed.

    I hope I have made myself clear. Appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.

    what is the video and audio codec? and what is the framerate?

    thanks for the reply. This info was from Winavi 7.7 based on one of the video clips I've taken.
    ===== File Info =====
    FileSize : 1MB
    PlayTime : 00:00:17.62
    VideoCount : 1
    AudioCount : 1
    ===== Video Info =====
    Video 0# Stream
    VideoCodec : xvid
    VideoWidth : 160 pixels
    VideoHeight : 120 pixels
    VideoFrameRate : 29.832 fps
    VideoFrameCount : 509
    VideoBitRate : 596763
    ===== Audio Info =====
    Audio 0# Stream
    AudioCodec : Microsoft ADPCM
    AudioBitRate : 32 kbps
    AudioChannels : 1
    AudioSampleRate : 8000
    BTW, if it helps the application on my mobile phone that I used to take the vids is called "Camcorder 2". It saves the files in AVI format unlike the usual 3gp format. It has 3 save options:
    1. for phone
    2. for PC
    3. for editing

    If I choose the option 1, the video playback speed is normal but the video quality is bad. What I used to save my vids is option 2 and the video quality is better (but when it is saved, the playback has a x2 speed). The 3rd option is the best quality but the playback is a bit faster, x4 I think.

    If I record a video 1 min long, save it, then watch it on my PC the playback shows the complete scene in just 20 secs when it should have been 1 minute. What I want to do is slow down the playback. What application gives me the option to re-encode/convert it so that it will play at normal speed?

  4. Identify playback software used.

    Specify which recording option was used for the clip displayed.

    Do a test of all three options and post info for each clip.

    My guess would be that the higher quality options are using a lower frame rate and not correctly identifying it in the clip itself. Try playing the clip in Vdub and changing the framerate to achieve correct playback.
