Does burn speed matter for videos? If so, what's the best speed for burning a 8X speed dvd disc? I know it is best to burn games at a slow speed, but what about videos?

Disc quality is more important than burn speed. Use high quality discs with a good burner and you can burn them at whatever speed you want.

For average quality dics burn 16x at 8x and 8x at 4x.

I tried to burn a 16X dvd at 18X and my xbox 360 won't play it but my PS2 does, weird indeed.

I always burn quality discs at the burn speed they're made for. So 8x at 8x and 16x at 16x. No problems here whatsoever.

I think it also depends on the DVD player itself.
I can back up a movie for myself at 16x or 18x, it still plays fine.
A friend of mine has to burn at 4x or else the movie skips.
Just my 2 cents.
