    Sync problem how?
    • Off by the same amount all the way?
    • Good to start with, then suddenly off?
    • Good to start with, but slowly driftng out of sync?
    • Combination/variation of above?
Generally I find sync problems too tedious to be bothered with, if it's not a very rare specimen I've got, worth investing much time and labour at.

First try would be to match audio and video length.
Load the AVI in GSpot, note the play time.
Load the AVI in GoldWave, note audio play time.
Using GoldWave timewarp function, make audio play time match video play time.
    Save as MP3
Load AVI in virtualdubmod, disable original audio in stream list.
Add new stream - your duration changed MP3 audio from GoldWave.
Save as avi, with video set as Direct Stream copy.
    Worth a try, at least.
