  1. I captured about 1 1/2 hours of video from my Panasonic PV-GS300 using the 16:9 mode.

    I captured/editing the video in Sony Vegas 7.0d and I have some questions about going to DVD with it. Mainly these settings and if I should use them or not;

    Reduce Interlace Flicker

    Smart Resample
    Force Resample
    Disable Resample

    Field Order;
    None (Progressive Scan)
    Upper Field First
    Lower Field First

    It will mainly be viewed on TV's (Both 16:9 HDTV and 4:3 SDTV)

    Alpha Channel;
    Undefined
    None
    Straight (Unmatted)
    Premultiplied
    Premultiplied (Dirty)

    The video will be combined with pictures (jpg/gif) also, and will be Authored with DVD-Lab Pro.

    Thanks.

    I don't understand the question. I assume your project setting is PAL DV 720x576 25fps with lower field first? Your source and project settings are DV 576i so your export format should be DV 576i. That is what you have edited.

    To export to an external encoder, you would use DV format to a file, or frameserve directly to the external encoder.

    PS: I don't know why a assumed you were PAL. If NTSC, use DV 720x 480, 29.97fps lower field first.

    I'm NTSC. I just wanted to make sure on the settings to save the M2V too.

    Right now I have Reduce Interlace Flicker = On (Checked)

    Smart Resample
    Lower Field First

    And Alpha Channel is None for Video and Premultiplied for Images (JPG/GIF) and Text (Credit Scroll)

    Should I change anything, or is that ok?

    I'll let others comment on these features for optimal stills. I find defaults acceptable and only filter if I see problems. This assumes adequate monitoring. Best to monitor in both interlace and progressive if intended for distribution. NTSC is particularly non-forgiving for "illegal" colors and levels problems on cheap TV sets. Deinterlacing progressive sets can also show issues with stills. I always check my serious work on a lowest end $99 Advent TV with no comb filter as my worse case test.
