    vegas 8.0b (217 build)

    tried the import -media. al files options.. error comes up.
    tried import - dvd camcorder disc, all files .. error comes up.

    mediainfo shows this about my disc / vob file:

    You could try vob2mpg on the video_ts folder and then import the mpg.

    looks like a typo - the program is called vob2mpg , it's a free app. in the tools section

    same error unsupported file type on the mpg import from vob2mpg..
    any ideas? is it a mpg2 decoder issue? i downloaded one GPL MPEG1/2 DirectSHow Decoder Filter and installed it.

    download this microsoft utility maybe this will help?

    why are there red X's on all these decoders for mpeg2?

    this is the top half of the pic..

    should i set something else as default in the list instead of Nero? maybe that's it??

    well i tried to set default to main concept one in the utility because GSPOT was able to render the vob file ok with that decoder.. yet did not work in Vegas. im at a loss here as to what my alternatives are.. i need to get this file into vegas, untouched (without any loss of quality).

    vegas will not work with mpeg-2 if it's the demo version.

    just fixed it.. it was not a demo version btw.
    i was able to uninstall vegas, they reinstall .. worked fine, now detects all my mpeg2 files and avi's!
