I upgraded to firmware version 12.06.36.34. This version supports DTS stream output which is a major positive (to me). Some other issues like "no 5.1 sound when using HDMI" are solved too. To my knowledge there are no changes in the formats which it can / cannot play.

PS In your specs I see "Region 2". There is a region 0 (all) hack available, I think it is even posted on this site. -

Does the version 12.06.36.34 firmware work OK?
I have the 12.06.36.24 version on mine (also a R2 version in the UK) but have read several posts of dodgy firmware upgrades on the version numbers 37.xx.xx.xx - presumably the R1 version of the device.
I've just started using HDMI and found pretty quickly that I've now only got PCM digital output which the latest firmware version is claimed to fix. But then again I don't want jerky playback instead. I had that on the previous Yamada 6700 which is why I got the 5960.
