hi guys, i hope someone here can help me achieve what im trying to accomplish. I want to be able to play my xbox 360 on my tv and capture on my computer at the same time. My tv has only 1 A/V input, i was wondering if i bought the xbox 360 s-video cable would i be able to plug the white/red/yellow cables into the tv and JUST the s-video end of that same cable into the capture device? Does anyone know if this would work?
I was just going to buy splitters and split the connection but people are saying that you lose quality that way unless you buy a VDA(video distribution amplifier). But i rather go with xbox 360 s-video cable so i get better quality when i capture. But will it work? will it output video to both sources using only 1 cord?
thanks,
bobby

You could always try. Just plug the cables in your tv while your xbox is running to see if you can have simultaneous output, first the composite one, and then the s-video one. If they both give an good image, your xbox is capable of outputting them both at the same time (unlike a PS2 for example, output should be selected in the menu there).
Splitting the video signal with a splitter has the same effect as the above description. You are basically splitting video at the source, but in a different way. I think the degrade of splitting up your signal will be minimal, and that it's safer and easier to apply splitters.
You could also try to use the tv as a passthrough. Connect the xbox to the tv with s-video, and use your s-video output of the tv to connect to the capture device. -

I would either like to get the xbox 360 s-video cable hoping it works, or buy splitters, or just purchase a VDA(video distribution amplifier). I already have 2 sets of a/v cables so if i were to buy the VDA that is all i would need. Does anyone recommend anything i have or have not suggested? I would like to get the best quality possible when capturing.
