when i try to put an avi on a dvd using nero vision, it always finishes the process fine with no errors but won't work on any dvd players, although it works on the pc's dvd player. i've tried various different brands of disc but this has no effect. it used to work ok on the same machine/dvd players!

    cheers

I'm not familar with nero vision, but

    1. Is it authoring your DVD? That is, if you view the file structure of the created DVD does it contain a VIDEO_TS folder and inside that folder are there *.ifo, *.bup & *.vob files?

    2. If yes to 1, then are you burning (i.e., writing) the authored DVD structure to your DVDR media?

    3. If yes to 1 & 2, then the problem might be compatiblity issues between your DVDR media and your settop DVD player. To find out what media (i.e., DVD-R or DVD+R) are compatible with your player, find your player under "DVD Writers" to the left.

    cheers guys.

yes, there's a video_ts folder. interestingly, the dvds i burned work fine on an xbox 360's drive, but neither of my conventional dvd players, which the same dvd+rw's used to work on! strange?

and incidentally, i tried convertx2dvd too, to no avail unfortunately!
