Most of the time I have no problems with DVDShrink, it recognizes most things and if there's a problem I use DVDFab to unlock the dvd. But every so often I'll get a DVD that neither will work with. Or once DVDFab unlocks it, then DVDShrink won't open the files, and it remains on my computer. I've started buying double layer DVDs for those instances, but they don't play in my DVD player and cost a lot. Does anyone else run into this problem? Or know of a solution?
Also when I download torrents, DVDShrink doens't recognize them, and I don't know how to make them smaller without it.

posting the same question in several different places won't get it answered any faster
you may not get any answers until tonight, and then get a bunch of replies to your post

Hi damseldumbar
You do not have to get upset when nobody answers, because this topic was discussed many times on this or other forums. You just have to do some homework.
Your torrent files are most likely DivX (Mpeg4) files that is why Shrink will not touch them, it was made for Mpeg2(DVD).
You will see once you convert those to DVD file, it will be 4-5 times larger file.
If you do dual layer the software has to set proper layer brake to burn your DVD and files have to still be Mpeg2 DVD compliant. -
As for ripping dvds ... use the latest version of ripit4me (you will also need dvddecrypter and fixvts as these are used by ripit4me to get a clean rip) .... your problem is most likely sony arcoss protection which is why dvd shrink won't recognise them .... once you have ripped with ripit4me and run it through fixvts (done automatically by ripit4me) it will load into shrink
As for your torrent files you will need to convert them into dvd compliant mpeg2 files and then author to dvd with appropriate software ..... or better still stop stealing movies and buy the proper dvd
