    I myself have never tried. I use the verb's and if something works for me why fix it.

    I had good luck with some a couple years ago and a Plextor 716A, but they were cheaper than Verbs then, now they aren't. Nor are they in the same league, but if they were to be found cheap again, i would pick up some more (Fuji used to use them, now they use complete garbage RITEK dye).
