last year I bought a Packard Bell pentium (4) 300 GB harddisk (split in C&D), 1 GB of Ram.

I would like to update the system, especially harddisk, I would say 300 to 800 GB.
What should I have to do? Should I go for external update of internal?

I would be thankful for your kind information.

  2. External:
    pros: easy to install, portable
cons: slower, another piece of equipment on your desk

    Internal:
    pros: faster
    cons: harder to install

You might also check inside the case. Some of the big vendor boxes don't allow for much upgrading. I have seen several that only provided one internal 3.5" bay, and it was used. It would make it more difficult to add an extra drive internally.

If you don't have room inside the case, but still have SATA ports, you might consider an external "eSATA" drive. This is an external HDD that will be just as fast as an internal. I use one myself (my motherboard has an eSATA connection) and I won't go back to USB drives again.
