    Hi there,

I'm a freak of The OC, and lately I've had a problem with The OC Session #3 DVD.
Unlike the Session #1 and #2 DVDs, the authors did not translate the third session to Hebrew.
I've come to an idea that I will translate it for myself, and for example take an unneeded subtitle and turn it to Hebrew, that way I'll spare the synchronization process because it's already done.

But as you know, it's not that easy to access a subtitle manualy, I mean access the subtitle file itself, it's somewhere in the .vob, .bup or .ifo files, and this is my question:
    - How do I access those files?
    - If there is a need of special programs to decode the encoded files, no problem I'll get them, you just name them.
    - If you do not know how exactly to access them, but know in which files it might be, that aswell will be useful information.

Thank you guys in advance, I would really appreciate any help of you.

    Thanks again.

    Johni.

Moving you to our subtitle forum.

The subtitles are in the vob files and they are images. You can convert them to a text format with time codes using subrip, https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=267416

I know no such thing. Thousands of people do it all the time.

    - How do I access those files?

There are several ways. I usually use SubRip.

    - If there is a need of special programs to decode the encoded files, no problem I'll get them, you just name them.

SubRip allows you to OCR the image based DVD subtitles into one of several text based formats (I convert to SSA format), so that they can be edited (I use SubStation Alpha). The process I've outlined is just one of several ways to do what you want. Here's a guide to SubRip:

    http://www.doom9.org/subrip.htm

To get the subs back into the DVD, you have to demux the vobs (PGCDemux), convert the SSA files back to SUP format (there are several ways to do this), replace one of the original SUP files with your new one (or add yours to the collection), remux using Muxman, and use the "Replace" button in VobBlanker to replace the old video, the one without the Hebrew subs, with the new one with Hebrew subs. Again, that's just one of several ways to get the edited subs back into the DVD. There are probably special requirements when working with non-European type alphabets. I've never done that, but you probably know already.
