Seem to be getting a lot of errors lately when using DVD Shrink and I have been using it for so long I thought it might be a good time to start using another possibly newer tool

Can anyone recommend another newer shareware tool for backing up DVDs and shrinking them to fit on a non dual-layer?

The programs listed are rippers only. I use DVDRebuilder (free version) to shrink DVD backups to single layer. DVDRebuilder does require you to have an encoding program of some kind. I think it works with HC Encoder and I believe that program is free. It actually re-encodes the movie so it should produce higher quality results than DVDShrink, but it will take more time. On average it takes about 4 hours to do everything involved in shrinking a dual layer DVD to single layer.
