I burn VCDs and play them on my PC through PowerDVD and they sound wonderful. I take that same CD and try to play it on my Pioneer DV440 component player and the audio is filled with gaps and pops to the point where it is not watchable. The VCD discs that I am burning are converted from Divx AVI using TMPGEnc and VirualDub and then burnt. Every single burn I have done so far sounds great on my PC but terrible on my component player. What is ever more mysterious is that I downloaded a movie off the internet ALREADY in VCD format. All I had to do was burn the BIN file to a CD. That particular burn sounds fine on my component DVD player. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why do the VCDs that I create from Divx AVI files sound great on my PC but terrible on my component DVD player? I am about 2 seconds from losing my frickin mind and I could really use some help!

How are you encoding your VCDs? What resolution, bitrate, etc. are you using? My first thought is that you have a xVCD disc that your stand alone doesn't like.

Make 100% sure that you have encoded the VCD audio to official specs.
Otherwise your player will have playback troubles.
