  1. I'm trying to make an episodic DVD consisting of 8 episodes (approx. 21 min. each) from XviD files. I have CCE SP and am trying to use that to do the conversion so I can get the best quality.

Can anyone recommend me something that I could use to do this?? I need a menu with it.

I've been trying tutorials and I tried the DIKO+DVDStyler tutorial and created a menu and everything. Once I started encoding, however, it encoded the first two episodes (but after each encode a window popped up saying something about clicking 'OK' to terminate the program) but then when it got to the third episode, it said that it could not open the file. That's when I stopped it.

Did I do something wrong? Is there a problem with the XviD files and what can I do to fix them so they'll work for this process? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And if you send me in a direction away from DIKO (though I prefer to get this method to work) is there a way I can still keep my menu that I created in DVDStyler? I worked my ass off on that thing.

I would drop each file into Gspot 2.60 and see what it says. Look for MP3 VBR audio as that can cause problems. You can also take the problem file and drop it into VirtualDub Mod and check it for errors and you may be able to correct them there.

I haven't used DIKO in some time, so not much help there. I use ConvertXToDVD now. But there is no reason that DIKO shouldn't work unless you have a setting wrong or the Xvids have a problem.

Plugging your 8 X 21 minute videos playing time into a bitrate calculator, I get a bitrate of 3400kb/s. That's a little on the low side, so you might consider 1/2 D1 format. See 'WHAT IS' DVD' to the upper left for that. Basically 352 x 480 framesize. It may do a better job of encoding quality with the lower bitrate than full D1.

For your menus, take a look to DVDAuthorgui or GUI for dvdauthor for a couple of good freeware authoring programs. They may be able to use your present menus.
