My DVD/CD drive is all messed up. It use to play fine but now when my DVD play in my computer they play all sketchy and they skip a lot. I mean I just got a brand new DVD and still can't play it on my Computer. I think it might of been my itunes changing my setting when I downloaded but I'm not sure. So how do you change The Settings?

Please don't bump your own topics. Wait a day or two first. This is covered in our rules. From our rules:
Please try not to "bump" your topic.
Replying to your own topic to get it to the top is annoying. Try to have some patience, this is a bulletin board, not IRC. It may take some time (e.g., one or two days) before someone can answer your query or question.
But try this. Your drive may have reverted to PIO mode from DMA mode:

To check DMA/PIO mode within Windows:

    Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

From there, right click on one of the channels and choose 'Properties>Advanced Settings'. All drives should be DMA mode. The 'Current Transfer Mode' for Hard drives is usually DMA 4-6 and DVD burners DMA 2-4, DVD ROMs usually DMA 2. If you see any in PIO mode, that can slow things down.

Changing them back may be easy or complicated. First see if you can change them in that window. If not, I usually uninstall the channel the drive is on and let the OS reinstall it. This will usually take a reboot. This will not damage any files on the computer.

From there, if no luck, get back to us.

    And welcome to our forums.

Could be that your original good mpeg2 dvd codecs have been replaced by some inferior ones. Rip a dvd to your hard drive and play it. Does it still play crap? If it does, re-install you dvd player software and that will re-install the codecs. It could also mean of course that your drive is wearing out.

Install , scan system , save text ... pm it to me instead of posting it here ... and well see if anything running in the background is causing the issue ,

Power the system down , remove power cord , and remove the ide cable from the drive and motherboard ... reconnect and repower up the system , and see if it still has the problem .

Has this drive been region unlocked for ripping dvd's more than 6+ time's ?

    My DVD/CD ... yes , and ... the model please .

If you suspect a codec issue, try playing with VLC Media Player. It uses it's own codecs and doesn't rely on the system codecs. That's an easy way to check for installed codec problems.
