I am attempting to create a VJ setup with a mx-1 video mixer, my computer and a dvd player (Along with a couple of monitors). I have been collecting music videos for 5 years now and am excited to get started, despite one hitch. The videos I collect are in a mpeg format. I was initially going to burn DVD discs to play with when I noticed something accidently a few years ago: A small, cheap dvd player I won in a contest at work was able to play a dvd with raw videos. Meaning that instead of using Nero to burn a disc the normal way with about 30 videos, this crappy little thing could play a simple dvd data disc with over 200 mpeg videos. Obviously I prefer this, with less discs and much less time making them. After six months, the cheap dvd player bit the dust. Since I finally bought the mixer I have been saving for, I have been looking around for another dvd player to play the same discs as before but I have had no success and no clue what I should be looking for on a dvd player box to see if the unit can do it. I just bought a $30 RCA DRC200N and using the 'hacks' mentioned in the website, have made the player region free (Thx!), but it STILL cannot play the simple dvd data discs I want it to. Please help, I have to VJ in a week and dont want to spend the next 7 days burning conventional discs.

    Any advice appreciated, thanks!

  2. Players that support raw MPEG's are rare and are usually on the low end of the quality scale.
In the DVD Players section check the box for "DVD-MPEGISO" and search.
BTW...you can forget Cyberhome in the US because they are no longer being sold.

Did just like you said, turns out the store across the street sells a Phillips DVP642 for $50 that will do just that. Thanks for the help, MG!
