hi
does anyone have expericance with theLG DAT-200
mines randomly freezing, loosing sound, pictures, failure to read disc etc. it all seems to be the same problem, when this happens the only button that works on the remote is the power button.
ide try firmeware but havent been able to find any around or anything on this system at all.
this is why i want a standalone 5.1 player.
cheers

Is this occuring with commercial discs or copies? If they are commercial discs, it could be dirty discs or a dirty player. If they are copies/burned discs, then it is most likely a media issue.

hmmm with both, tho all the error i gave seem to be connected to the same one big problem i think, i can go weeks or without a problem then it can keep happening sumtimes i have to keep turn it on and off until it doesnt free because i dont think it has a problem reading the disc i think the hole system is freezing sumhow, when a dvd does fail to read i can switch to tv mode but the audio will be gone.

In that case, sounds like hardware failure. It would most likely be cheaper to replace it and have it fixed. But if you know a shop that will check it out free/cheap, it would be worth a try.

i dunno what to buy if i get a full home cinema set only wanna spend like 100-150 or so -
The 5.1 players were more common because the AVR's with digital inputs were expensive. Now that even the cheap AVR's have digital inputs, often multiple including coaxial and optical, there is no need/reason to increase the cost of the dvd player to provide outputs a huge majority of users won't use.
Maybe it's time to upgrade your AVR?Google is your Friend -
i just dont wanna waste the speaker that r already setup around my room

You don't have to replace the speakers.
Typically, you have the 6 sets of RCA cables connected from the DVD player to the receiver/amplifier. And then the 6 sets of speakers wires from the receiver/amplifier to the speakers. This is usually done because the receiver/amplifier doesn't support 5.1 decdoding, so you allow the DVD player to do the decoding.
With a newer AVR, it performs the decoding on its own. So you connect a single digital (coaxial or optical) cable from the DVD player to the AVR. Then the six sets of speaker wires still connnect directly to the AVR and your speakers.Google is your Friend
