I'm trying to find a program (free) or another technique that will let me convert animated GIFs to AVI or MOV files. I can open them like AVI files on QuickTime Player, but I can't convert them. I tried using FFMPEGX and MPEG Streamclip, but no dice. I have seen this done with Final Cut Pro, but I don't have that, nor can I afford it. Does anyone have another suggestion for me?

Quicktime amateur did a sample of one for me, but the speed was not adjustable and it didn't play the final frames exactly right. I tried movie12 and movie13 from Jan's freeware (in VPC Win98SE) and they couldn't render it quite right either.

You can get QT Amateur here: http://www.mikeash.com/?page=software/qtamateur/index.html

Firefox plays it correctly but doesn't support exporting it to another format.
