Does anyone know of any freeware/commercialware/shareware software that is pretty good at converting AVI to animated GIF? I was using some software, i think it was called Coffeecup, and it worked good, but ran out of time. I am not sure if coffeecup is really good software, or if there is something better that anyone can recommend.
Thanks for any information you can send along.

thanks for the info, everyone! I wanna go one step further, since i found that Microsoft GIF Animator works great. I wanna make an animated GIF that can be used as desktop wallpaper. Does anyone know of any software that will do this? thanks!

No extra software seems to be needed, just turn on active desktop then set your gif as wallpaper. Works like that on Win ME anyway. Failing that (Active desktop can be a resource hog), I think Windowblinds will do it, though I've never used it.

If you were able to make an animated GIF with the SW recommended, then open Gif and right click, then "set as Desktop Background"....

I use Photoshop. Works fine for my limited use and I already know Photoshop.

thanks again for the help, y'all! -
You should try JASC's Animation Shop for converting avi's to animated gif's. I've had great results with it.
