Got a new camcorder. Old camcorder method was to play it through my ReplayTV, which created DVD-compliant MPEGs, then used VideoReDo to cut out small portions at beginning/end of each tape, bad fades, etc. Burned to DVD using ULead DVD Studio 3.0, added a few chapters, chose the picture I wanted for the thumbnail, etc. Nothing fancy.
I am not interested (yet) in video editing, fades, etc.
I just want something to put the AVI files that my Panasonic PV-GS250 creates onto a DVD in a decent format.
Will Sony Vegas Movie Studio be a good choice? The full blown Vegas 7.0 would be more than I'm looking for, I think.
ULead has several new versions out. Would that be better?
Thanks.

I've never used it, but ConvertxToDVD sounds like it will do what you want, is regularly recommended and is much cheaper than Vegas Movie Studio.
