Need Advice for Video Conversion PLZ

Hey there,

I'm new here so let me start out with saying my name is Peter and I run my own website. Now I have a developer that's building a video platform on our site (much like youtube) and he's doing a great job so far with the whole database and all.

One thing we're stuck on thou. Can anyone advice where I can buy/find some scripts on converting videos to flv? Let me explain. Here's what I need. When a user uploads any video format on our site, it has to be converted to flv when another user watches it, just like on youtube.

Any advice, ideas, thoughts? Everything is much appreciated.

But these look like 3rd party software. What I need is something to implement into my video database on the site. So everytime someone uploads any vid format on the site, it automatically converts it to FLV and plays it in that format whenever someone decides to watch it.

It uses Mencoder (which is opensource). What do you mean by "3rd Party" Software ?
