  1. Well the old faithful 8X SL Optorite 401 died the other day and I figured I better get a new one. After not having very good luck with my NEC 3520 at work I decided against another NEC. I went to newegg and did some research. Most of the drives were $30-$40 so price really played no part. I read several reviews for Samsung, Lite-On, Plextor, Pioneer, etc and noticed that some of the new drives ar 18X and 20X. I found a Lite-On drive that was 20X and supported both lightscribe and 12x DVD-Ram. It had good reviews so I ordered it. I've never owned a lite-on before and I've heard both good and bad things about them.

I don't expect to find 20x media or even 18x for that matter but I thought it wouldn't hurt to buy the 20x over the 16x since they were basically the same price.

Has anyone used a 20x drive or been able to find media? Also, where can I find an online manual or firmware updates for this drive. Lite-ON's site sucks. DOn't know if I made a mistake yet but we'll see.

There's several threads at CdFreaks.com on your 20x LITEON dvd burner.

There is no firmware upgrade yet for your drive. You'll be able to use SMARTBURN which is a good tool to use. Check out the LITEON FORUM at CdFreaks.com
