QuickTime Pro 6.1 => I do Export mov to avi, after conversion I got 2.66GB file (with Compression 'None' ), the file is playable on Windows Media player, without additional codecs.
Is there way to reduce an AVI's file size, without loss of quality?(and still be playable on WMP without codecs).

Source MOV file(17.6MB) have the following parameter:

    Format: Sorenson Video 3,640 x 480, Millions+
MPEG Layer-3 Audio, Stereo, 22.05 kHz, 16 bits.

    Movue FPS: 1.99

    Data size: 17.6MB
    Data rate: 16.0 K bytes/sec
    Normal size: 640 x 480

Huffyuv will halve the size without affecting quality. Almost all other options will compromize quality.

Huffyuv is an additional codec. The only compression I'm aware of that wouldn't require installing a codec to play in WMP is mpeg1, as the codec comes native with Windows. But it will definately compromise quality.

Ah - missed that part. Since loss is inevitable, I'd go for WMV which all Windows boxes will play, but is more efficient than mpg1

There is few options in 'Compression' type besides 'None' (DV/DVCPro-NTSC, Cinepak, BMP, etc).
Using any of these option will create AVI file which will not be playable on WMP10 without installing a codec?

    Forgot about WMV.
Anyway, siluet, what is your aversion to installing a codec? Mpeg1 and WMV are just codecs that were installed along with Windows. All compressed video is created using the co (compress) part of the codec and requires the dec (decompress) part to play back.

Can't you just watch them in QuickTime then? Why bother converting?

I have no QuickTime and dont want install it. I do a conversion on another PC, where is this QuickTime 6.1 Besides, i noticed that even converted AVI looks better on WMP10 than original MOV on QuickTime player.
