I've noticed that, in some of my footage that I'm editing with Adobe Premeire Elements 3.0, there is a wavy line (like old fashioned 'interference') at the bottom of my footage when I am panning, say at about lines 530 to 540 (PAL).
I've seen this issue in several clips but only when I am panning!
I've tried to crop the clip but the lines simply move up the footage, so it's obviously not a problem with the camcorder (I think).
    What is causing this?

You sure it's not the overscan area? This is normal footage from a analog hi-8 cam:

I'm not too sure what you mean by this!
    I'm using a Sony FX1.
Could you please be a little more specific?
    Thanks.

That's a digital camcorder so it shouldn't be present. Sorry can't help you.

    Anyone else with any thoughts?
When I run the footage, it's as though the bottom lines are out of sync with the lines above. Almost like what you see with interlaced footage on a PC except that it's one large step at the very bottom rather than 288 small ones!
When I pause the footage, the resultant still image is ok.
    Thanks.

  6. That sounds like a software issue that only effects the display while editing. If it's not in your output files just ignore it.

A similar type of "tearing" occurs in computer games when vertical sync is turned off. What you see on-screen is half (or some part) of one frame and half of another -- with a tear in the middle.
