change suffix?

l have a wmv file, but the windows ME think it is a avi. file, how can l make the windows ME recongnizes it as a wmv file?

I'm not that familiar with ME, but try looking at any folder and see it there is a 'Tools' listing. If so, look for 'Folder Options'. That should give you a 'File Types' tab. Look there for the .wmv extension. Set it to open with 'Windows Media Player. There should be other settings there also that may determine what program can be associated with an extension like .wmv. I suspect you installed a software player that took over the extension at some point.
