how do i change from +R to -R

a buddy of mines let me hold his copy of the boondocks which is burned on NEXXTECH 8x DVD+R. i copied it using nero's burning rom dvd copy. when i played it in my sony dvd player it wouldn't show any of the chapters, titles, ect that dvd's have. when i played it on my computer it showed everything.

my question is when copying a +R dvd how do i make it playable on a -r dvd?

ps - i use VERBATIM 16x DVD-R

You just copy it with your burning tool or use dvddecrypter or imgburn. The dvd-video standard is same on dvd+r and dvd-r.
