Ok I download several gigs of .rm per evening to satisfy my lusts... what ever they may be...... lets not go there.... (there was a recent post about certain ethnic minorities using REAL to encode everything they upload and altho I'm not sure I agree with the racial aspect of that post I do agree that REAL should be the last choice for encoding (even given its amazing qualitiy on screen)

I just want to see what others think.....

how do you convert your .rm's to something more 'player friendly'?


I shove mine in SUPER and knock 'em in to Mpeg 1 and burn to VCD to play on the dvd so I am comfy on the sofa, and not bent up like a old twat on the PC chair.

and damn it I use a macbook, so .rm is a serious C*** (but fab quality)

and on my XP box i shoved in real player alt but it locked up after a couple of days..... so it got wiped....

I wont let Rp connect to the internet. *ha ha ha*

I've never cared for REAL software, so I have Real Alternative installed "just in case." I can't remember the last time I had any REAL media files. It's a good thing, because I can't stand 'em.

The RealPlayer software is like a noxious weed that sucks the life out of your machine after entwining it's way through every software orifice it can. As to the quality aspect, I can honestly say that I have never seen a Real encoded video that was any better than adequate - comparable to mpeg-1. I have never understood the reverence that some hold this format in.
