I have the Energy take 5.2 speaker package, it got very good reviews and I have used them for about 4 years. However I have noticed the last few months that my center speaker occasionally is distorted.

It doesnt happen 100% of time and it can happen when playing all sorts of audio but is really noticeable when playing a movie as the dialogue is often through the centre speaker and it sticks out like dogs balls.

Can you fix a speaker as the set cost $1800AUD and id hate to pay out for another seaker which could be a few hundred $$$

Anyone know if this sounds like a big deal?

Yes, speakers can be repaired. I had a blown woofer and found a guy to rebuild it. He actually rebuilt both left and right woofers so to keep them similar.

Cost was about a hundred bucks for the pair (about 5 years ago).

I found the guy by calling smaller stereo shops...

  3. Open the speaker cover and see whether the foam/rubber rim is still intact ?
