2nd HD Western Digital 160G as Slave (Storage, etc only), OS on Primary HD and works fine.

On this 2nd HD, some files like MP3s, DVD movies (VOBs) were UNABLE to retrieve even windows show sizes on each files. Randomly does this to my files time to time. It is like the files are corrupted, viruses, bugs, or something? Defrag no help...any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Have you ran error checking on it from the drives property page? And if your motherboard has S.M.A.R.T capability, I would turn it on in BIOS. If the problem is only on that drive, maybe the drive is failing? S.M.A.R.T will usually give you some warning before it fails.

Am I understanding correctly that the main problem is that the file sizes are shown incorrectly or are the files themselves apparently corrupted?

The only other thing I can think of is to move the data off it and reformat and see if that cleans it up. It could be a virus or some sort of malware, but that would usually effect the boot drive more often.

  3. Dont overclock...its easy to cause data degradation if you are ocking the FSB. maybe "scan" the disk from dos or error check from windows
