Well, ive tried many encoders including CC sp. But my question is, reguarding TMPGE for right now. This thing compresses so much the quality just sucks. The file im converting was from an after effects animation at 720x480 NTSC widescreen 16:9. Now all i want is to burn that to a dvd-r with no loss of quality. If TGMPG cant do that then how do u convert to .vob? Is .vob another dvd format with no loss of quality? Let me give an example. Ill show u the settings used for the mummy returns dvd. (not ripped but a retail version that i own)
Mummy Stats:
Video Attribute :
Video compression mode : MPEG-2
TV system : 525/60 (NTSC)
Aspect Ratio : 16:9
Display Mode : Only Letterbox
Source picture resolution : 720x480 (525/60)
Frame Rate : 29.97
Source picture letterboxed : Not letterboxed
Bitrate : 9.80Mbps
Now compared to my setup:
Video Attribute :
Video compression mode : MPEG-2
TV system : 525/60 (NTSC)
Aspect Ratio : 16:9
Display Mode : Only Letterbox
Source picture resolution : 720x480
Frame Rate : 29.97
Source picture letterboxed : Not letterboxed
Bitrate : 9.80Mbps
To me it should be same quality, but for some reason this encoder is compressing way to much. The motion search precision is also set to highest quality(very slow) and still made no difference. What settings in the prog deal with compression and quality?
