Well I finally got my desire - an expandable 40gb mp3 player - it's on its way and I'll do a full post after I check it out Thursday when it comes.
I was going to get a nintendo wii but I think since I spent a sizeable amount on the mp3 player I think I'll just get some dvd sets. Maybe the original transformers seasons or the complete original Robotech on dvd.
So what do you want? A dvd recorder with a harddrive? A gps unit? A car dvd player? A video mp3 player? A laptop? A new desktop with a dual core processor maybe?? An xbox 360? A Nintendo Wii?? A Playstation 3??

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

BTW, what's different about the upcoming Transformers releases? I got the sets that came out a few years ago and they're pretty darn complete..."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

I don't know. I haven't seen the ones you're talking about.

This doesn't qualify as a gadget, but I hope to buy myself a Fender American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster for the holidays.

Along with Korea University, Samsung has created a robotic sentry that's equipped with two cameras (one infrared), zooming capabilities, and a BFG (a 5.5mm machine gun to be exact). The robot has the ability to differentiate between humans and inanimate objects and can even hunt its enemy from afar (which is actually kinda scary). It also has a speaker that beckons the fool that walks near it to surrender before being pulverized.

I want to build a Dual Core system to replace my P4 2.4 system. If nothing happens I'll build it before the end of the year.

Let us take a look at the details of this dvd release which will help buyers in making the choice as to whether or not to make this film part of their dvd library.
Firstly, this dvd is released by Sony BMG Music Entertainment, as therefore those who might be expecting a dvd release of the animated film together with the live action film later in 2007 will be sorely disappointed as the property doesn't belong to the same distributor.
Secondly, this dvd release is a 2 disc release featuring three versions of the feature film, commentary tracks and interviews, a sneak peak at the live-action movie.
A breakdown of the dvd details are as follows :
*Brilliantly remastered and color-corrected
*16x9 widescreen presentation, which has not been seen anywhere since the movie was in theatres twenty years ago
*Full screen edition as well
*Commentary tracks
*Interviews with director Nelson Shin, story consultant Flint Dille and voice actress Susan Blu
*Autobot Matrix of Knowledge Presentation: Truly showcasing the pop culture phenomenon that is The Transformers, Sony BMG has created a special version of the film for the DVD release.
*The `Autobot Matrix of Knowledge' will feature trivia and fun facts about the movie itself, the Transformers brand, and the pop culture references in which Transformers has been spoofed/tributed. Approximately one hundred fun facts will show up on screen throughout the movie. Many of the factoids were provided by fans through a special DVD site created by Sony BMG to solicit input--marking the first time that the huge
Transformers fan base has ever been asked to participate in the creation of a Transformers home entertainment release.
*Original commercials for the toy line and movie
*Behind-the-scenes sneak peak at next summer's highly anticipated Transformers live action movie event. The special feature segment on the DVD will include comments from Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg who share their vision and passion for Transformers
*Collectible `transforming' cover

Dear Santa,
You're too slow, I already bought a notebook computer on my own.
Instead, how about a new flatscreen non-glare CRT TV set? And then if the Nintendo Wii has a good Mario game, I might be interested in that too. I'm sort of set for gadgets this year, so you're getting off easy this time.
And don't get stuck in my chimney this year. Red fur smells like crap when it burns.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Just finished putting together a new desktop - Updated my P4-3.0 for an E6600. Went with matx in an attempt to downsize and get back some desk space (
)
For Christmas I'm thinking a pair of LCD to replace my 2 CRT's - I'm thinking 19" but wondering if it's really worth the cost over 17" since both generally only go 10 1280x1024. Something that will go 1600 is still a little pricey when considering two.
Going back to 1280x1024 is going to be my biggest issue as I'm used to 1600x1200 on the CRTs. Anyone comment??? Is it worth going to a pair of LCDs at 1280x1024 over a pair of CRTs at 1600x1200? Two CRT's take up soooo much desk space... -

I believe that there si no gadget for this holiday season. The earlier suggestion of a DVD recorder might be next years though. The problem being that I am refusing to by any new video related equipment until the ATSC tuner comes with it built in. I think that is one of the the holdups right now. I couls see a brisk market for a programmable DVD recorder with built in ATSC tuners that aren't HD-TV compitable. In theory those might be cheap enough now if anyone bothered to make one, but nobody will until after the Federal Mandate of March 1, 2007.

1600 x 1050. 3yr warranty. Not bad for under $200.
I'm in the same boat you are, but I just haven't been able to talk myself into buying LCDs since I have two 19" CRTs and I'm not hurting for space. Maybe I can shop vicariously through you. :PNothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -

I think I'll pick up one on the way home and try it out... -
i'd like one of those 70" LCD TV's , but i'll have to wait till they are a couple of hundred

Viewable screen is virtually the same, 1280 versus 1600 is noticably less but the image quality is far better on LCD compared to CRT.
Sooooo I'm going to recommend that a pair of 17" LCD's are better than a pair of 19" CRT's even taking into account the resolution reduction. I'll have to pick up a second LCD next payday... -

The desk is actually pretty big but it has to be pushed into a corner and not being able to let the pair of 19" CRT's hang over the back they take up a ton to desk landscape. -
I'd like a new girlfiend, too. Unfortunately my wife won't let me have one.
