Problems Creating a VCD

I am trying to create a VCD taht will run in my DVD player, I have an RCA 5215P DVD Player. When I try to create a VCD it eather does not detect the disk in the drive, or says the disk is not compatible. I have being using ROXIO Vido CD Creator 5.0 under Windows XP and my Writer is a Yamaha 8 SCSI writer. I am using 80 minute Virbatium CD's.

When I creator a VCD it does run fine in my computer but it does not run in the DVD player. Does anyone have any ideas on what I am doing wrong and how to solve this problem.?

If u look at the dvd comparisons list u will see that your player does not support CDR

That to me makes no sense it says it will not work with CDR but it will work with CDRW? IT would expect it to work the other way about .

Your DVD player wasn't designed to read either CD-R or CD-RW. That is, your DVD drive is similar to first generation DVD-ROM drives.

DVD drives use a different wavelength laser to a standard CD drive and as a consequence to that, they do not read CD-R well. Interestingly, by virtue of the optics, CD-RW works better in these drives (which accounts for the reports on the list).

You can usually find a brand of CD-R that works on most DVD players, but you will have to experiment. CD-RW often works better in these cases so you may want to try those.

The next time you buy a DVD player, make sure it states that it can read CD-R/W media on top of VCD compatibility. The two things are completely separate abilities.

You may want to also check to ensure it can Play SVCD, some will play VCD CD-R/RW but not SVCD.
