I've tried REAL PLAYER, WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11, CYBERLINK POWER DVD, and all have the same result, no sound.

What if you rip the DVD to HD, and play it from the HD?

That could work, but then it still doesn't fix the problem of my laptop not playing dvds correctly.

I'm trying to figure out whether it's the drive, or your audio setup.

PowerDVD is set to use what kind of sound output?

  7. Is it possible the CODECs for audio (Dolby, etc) are not installed or have been corrupted on your machine?

Try reinstalling PowerDVD or another decent DVD player app and see if that helps correct
    the issue.
